Performance

The model’s watt power ranges from 1300 to 1500. The RPM is 24000 and approximately 2 Horsepower. The performance of these models is undoubtedly best. With this Watt and Horsepower, these machines can liquefy anything. Great addition to the family.

As mentioned in the table, BL460 and BL461 have 1300 watt power whereas BL462 and BL462W have 1500 watt. Thus, the latter two models have better performance. Such power and performance are quite nice not only for the home but for professional use too.

All the 4 models are noisy. But the results are exceptionally great.

If you are interested in the whole system with food processor and dough maker then you can look for BL682 series with 1500 watt power. It has 3 jars( 32oz, 24 oz and 18 oz), a 72 oz pitcher, food processing bowls and blade accessories.

The other competitive brand is Nutribullet Rx that comes with 1700 watt power. Nutribullet Rx has smoothies and hot soups mode. However, it does not have a pitcher.

Usability

  • Ease of use:
  • All the 4 models are very handy to use. They come with a variety of jars in different sizes and a pitcher of 72 oz. The jars with pro extractor blade can be used to make smoothies, purees from fresh fruits, leafy vegetables, and frozen fruits. The pitcher with the total crushing blade can be used to make smoothies or purees from frozen fruits, desserts, and drinks. The maximum assembled height is 17.5 inches. It suitably fits on the counter-top and under the shelves.

BL642W comes with silicone grip sleeves that give a better grip of the jars on the go.

  • How to Use:
  • Depending upon the quantity, you can pick the jar. If you are making smoothies from the frozen fruits, then you can use the pitcher.

Like other blenders, all the models comes with Pro Extractor blade attached to a lid. Choose the jar, pour the ingredients, close it with blade lid and place 180 degrees on the base.
Blend it by selecting the following Auto iQ function:

    1. Blend : For fresh fruits and leafy vegetables like spinach.
    2. Ultra Blend: For frozen fruits, kale and carrots.
    3. Frozen Drink Smoothies; For frozen desserts and drinks.
    4. Puree: For sauce and purees.

Once done replace the blade with lids, and the drink is ready to drink or to go.

To use 72 oz pitcher, attach the total crushing blade, pour the ingredients and close it with pitcher lid with spout. Once the smoothie is ready, pour it out. The pitcher lid is quite stylish. It fits well, and there is a technique to close and open the pitcher lid. Other than BL460, all others are Multi-serve.

If you are not interested in having 1300 watt and 72 oz pitcher, then you can look for Nutri Ninja with Auto iQ with 1000 watts BL480/481/482.

  • Multitasking:
  • All the models are ideal for multitasking: from making smoothies to purees to sauces from fresh fruits or from frozen fruits. You can use jars for not only making smoothies but also grinding soaked lentils and dry spices. The powerful base can blend and grind anything and everything.

  • Ease of Clean :
  • Like all other models, Nutri Ninja DUO blenders are easy to clean. Wipe the base with a damp cloth. All the jars, lids, and blades are dishwasher safe. I recommend washing everything immediately after use. Try to wash blades using mild soap with the hand.

    Design

  • Technology:
  • Auto iQ is a pre-programmed, setting with digital timer to make smoothies within minutes. There is no manual interference; the machines know how much to blend and till what time.

  • The Pro Extractor Blade spin at high speed pulverizing seeds and skins and extracting maximum nutrients from vegetables and fruits.
  • The Total Crushing blades pulverize ice into snow within seconds. It crushes frozen fruits and desserts and turns them into great smoothies.
  • Leak Proofing:
  • Blenders come with security lock, the jars get secure in the base tightly. The blade is reinforced with its base. Thus, there is little chance of leaking from the blade to the base. Leaking may occur if the jar is filled beyond the max line.

  • Markings:
  • All the jars comes with the max line. If the jar is 32 oz, then the max line is at 30 oz. Fill the content to max line only. Otherwise, there are chances of overflowing and spilling. You may face a problem while blending because the blade can’t churn due to excess ingredients in the jar.

  • Material:
  • The jars are made of Eastman Tritan plastic that is BPA-free. It is very safe to use. The jars are dishwasher safe but not microwave safe.

    Value for money

These blenders are in the range of $200. The other famous blenders such as Vitamix start from $300 having similar functionality but less number of jars.

    Conclusion

In Auto iQ series, there are blenders with 1000, 1300 and 1500 watt. The 1000 watt series (BL480/481/482) comes with 32 oz jars whereas the 1300 and 1500 watt series comes with 32 oz jars plus a 72 oz pitcher. They all perform well, more of the wattage provide more power and make smoother and consistent smoothies. The price of 1000 watt series is almost $50 less than the 1300 and 1500 watt. The price difference between 1300 and 1500 watt is negligible. BL642W comes with extra silicone sleeves, I personally don’t feel the need of them.

Thus, I recommend buying BL642 with 1500 watt.

Individual sleeves can be purchased at ~$4 and are available at manufacturer website. You may have to pay for shipping as well.

Not sure about the price difference between BL642 and BL642W. Even though BL642W model exists, I haven’t found anyone selling it. Thus, I don’t even have links for that product.
Hope this was useful. Enjoy πŸ™‚

BL642 have its own food processor accessory and BL682 one is little different.

I got this duo ninja last week and have used it everyday. Love it. For the past 2 days, the extract button won’t work and have had to use the other buttons. Anyone else have this issue?

Can you specify the model number ?

I am confused with the extract button. Model BL642 doesn’t have a button called extract.
However if something was working 2 days back and is not working now I would talk to Ninja support team. If its only 1 week old then should be under warranty and return policy. You should possibly look for a replacement.

Hi does the 642 can make smoothiesout of beets? A real smooth one

Most sites and recipes recommend cooking the beets. I prefer to keep the vitamins so I chop them into 1/2″ chunks, put in a Pyrex cup and pour just enough hot water to cover them(keurig machine). I soak them in the fridge overnight putting all of the liquid and beets into my smoothie and it blends wonderfully. I have the ninja duo BL640.

I just purchased the coffe grinder attachment, it says it will work with a BL640 or BL680, will it not work with the BL641??

We bought the BL640 less than a year ago mostly for the ability of making smoothies. Now all of the lugs on the smoothie cups are so worn than the safety switch will not engage. Not to mention that the safety switch on the blender is also worn so the combination won’t allow the blender to operate. For a while I could press down on the smoothie cup and the blender would work but no longer.
I would not spend the $160 we spent on this blender ever again.
